How to Raise Smart Kids
A child is born with billions of brain cells that need to grow. The brain does not grow automatically with age. It comes from zapping brain cell connections into place. This occurs through stimulation and the exercise the brain receives. A child's brain develops its full potential when it is exposed to enriching experiences in early childhood.1. Make your child feel loved. Hug him, cuddle him, kiss him - a lot! When you bond with your baby, you provide him with love and security that brings about brain connections.2. Read books to your kid. Research shows that children who are read to when very young are more likely to develop a lifelong interest in reading, do well in school and succeed in adult life.3. Let your kid play. When your kid is playing, he is creating the foundation for his intellectual, social, physical and emotional skills. When he plays with other kids, he learns to combine ideas, impressions and feelings with other kids' experiences and opinions.4. Play with your kid. He feels most warm and comfortable playing with you. This is especially if he is doing something new, and he feels frustrated because he cannot quite master a skill.5. Talk to your kid. This is how your child develops strong language skills. Also important, listen to your kid. Among other things, it reinforces his effort to communicate.6. Give your kid music lessons. By playing music, your kid exercises the part of his brain that processes proportional thinking. A grasp of proportional math and fractions is required for students to understand math at higher levels. Children who do not master these areas of math cannot understand more advanced math which is important in high-tech fields.7. Let your kid see you doing smart things. Kids learn by modeling adult's behavior. If he sees you engaging in reading books, writing, making music, or doing creative things, he will imitate you, and in the process develop his intelligence.8. Give them kid-friendly computer games. The best kid-friendly computer games teach your kids about letters, math, music, phonics and many others. It also develops his hand-eye coordination and prepares him for tomorrow's technology. More importantly, he learns these while he plays. Learning and having fun at the same time is the best way for your kid to learn.9. Let him watch kid-friendly TV shows. This is the most passive kind of learning, but it is better than nothing. The danger is, letting your kid watch too much TV can take the time away from his engaging in more effective learning experiences like reading books and other activities mentioned above.10. Feed your kid right. No processed, refined carbohydrates and sugar, but mostly fruits and vegetables that are filled with nutrients needed by his developing brain. Also, feed him with fish, meat, or nuts that are protein-rich.You can see details on how to raise smart kid at http://www.RaiseSmartKid.com.
